Everyday Theatre

Everyday Theatre is an interactive, attention grabbing workshop using Applied Theatre techniques framed inside the concept of a video game with real actors instead of a TV.  Everyday Theatre uses drama to bring the topic of Domestic Violence and Child Abuse into the minds and discussions of young people and the video game concept allows participants to “win” the game by finding solutions to the challenges presented in the drama.

Everyday Theatre is the brainchild of Dr Peter O’Connor and the Everyday Theatre team have been working alongside young people all over New Zealand using drama around domestic violence and child abuse for over 6 years.

The highly skilled team present a performance to kick of the workshop and to engage the young people they are working with.  The Everyday Theatre team have established a long and trusted relationship with schools New Zealand wide.

Students were eager to participate within the first 3 minutes of it starting.  The students were well monitored by the facilitators as well as staff.  The interaction of students on sensitive issues was very respectful.  This is a brilliant way to engage children and adults on issues around violence.  LOVED IT ALL”
